Elaine has been a Parish Councillor since August 2018 and became Chair of the Council in May 2023.
Elaine is a member of all committees.
Elaine grew up in Stretton and attended the Bridge Street infants school, William Shrewsbury and finally Forest of Needwood. A career in newspaper journalism led to her live in cities across the UK for some 20 years before she returned to live in Stretton in the 1990s. Elaine ran her own business for 11 years and is now living a busy retirement. She is the main carer for her mum and helps out with five grandchildren. Last year she took up running and you may see her training around the village. She has runthe Brewers 10k in aid of Burton & District Mind, the mental health charity. In 2022 she wrote a book about Burton’s Victorian entrepreneurs Orton and Spooner. All profits have gone to MIND raising more than £3,000 so far.
